Illustration Friday-Page Sample with Cat

This is a page from one of those projects that's been on the backburner for quite some time, slowly simmering to perfection (I hope).

The story is about a young woman who's having trouble sleeping, and so she gets up, and starts reflecting. She eventually goes out onto her balcony for a smoke, and looks back in to see a different version of herself, one much happier and nurturing. I'll leave the rest as a surprise, but the main theme of the comic is renewal in a place that has become tired and withered.

It'd be hard to call this a 'comic book,' I think a more accurate description would be 'comic poem.' Right now I'm thinking of self-publishing as soemthing akin to a chapbook. Thoughts? Advice?

Illustration Friday-E is for...Eve

I've dealt with Eve before in some artwork, but this is a more traditional depiction/setting. Check out my posting 'New Street Scenes' for a more contemporary spin on her.

Batgirl Meme

I won't score any originality points with these Batgirl drawings, but I've been reading and reading about this whole Batgirl meme started by Andi Watson, and couldn't resist from participating!

KONG!

So, one of my latest obsessions has been the latest version of King Kong. I don't know what it is, but I love this movie, as soon as it was over I wanted to see it again (mind you, it's a 3 hour movie!) Well done, Mr. Jackson!

Of course, my fandom is going to seep into my artwork, and so here's my plan: a possible series of woodcuts with the feel of a 1930's poster, but with clear references to the new movie. I figure it's about time I move beyond the linocut and start dealing with woodcuts in serious way. And since I just sat down to work on this today, I don't have much more than these sketches. As always, I'll post new designs and sketches as they emerge.

Illustration Friday-Sea: "The Whale's Pest"

It's been a while since I posted something for Illustration Friday, but it also helped that I was a bit inspired by the theme for this week. Just a quick sketch, hopefully somewhat humorous.

Also, for those that have been regular visitors to my blog, check below for an actual Lost illustration I completed (finally!)
